Learning to Drive

Learning to drive should be fun. If you are enjoying your lessons you will learn much better, to this end I will endeavour to make all lessons fun with a professional approach to learning to drive.

How long will it take to learn to drive?

This is a very difficult question to answer because everyone is different and we all learn at different paces. On average to reach test standard it can take 40 - 50 hours but some people might need less and others might need more.

I will always give you an honest opinion of your progress and answer any questions or queries you may have.

Also having access to a car for some private practice can reduce the number of hours you will need.

My name is Steve Bargna, I have six successful years experience as an Approved Driving Instructor registered with the Driving Standards Agency. I enjoy teaching to drive and take great pride in the job I do.

Making mistakes is part of learning to to drive and you will find me very understanding, never raising my voice. I identify faults and then constructively rectify them making allowance for your level of experience.

Your confidence is my priority and I will go to great lengths to keep it intact so you progress quicker and feel good about your driving.

Intensive Driving Courses

Intensive course

This course is ideal for people who don't have a lot of time on their hands. The course consists of 40 hours, 2 of which are for the driving test, and is subject to test date. Cost: £840.00.

Semi Intensive Course

This is the same as the intensive course but can be spread over 3 to 8 weeks, and is also subject to test date. Cost: £800.00.

Pass Plus Courses

Pass Plus is a driving course you can take after passing your test. It comprises of 6 hours and includes the following modules:

By completing the Pass Plus course you will gain more experience of driving in different conditions. Because you have the additional experience you can receive big discounts on your insurance premiums. There is no test to take, you are assessed and marked by your Instructor over the duration. Upon completing the course you will receive a certificate from the DSA. You will need this certificate to claim your insurance discount.

Terms and Conditions

You must hold a current valid licence (either provisional or full) which must be produced on the first lesson. You must also be able to read a number plate from a distance of 20.5 metres (67 feet) using your glasses if normally worn.

I'm a fully qualified ADI on the Driving Standards Agency's (DSA) register of Approved Driving Instructors. I will adhere to the DSA's Code of Conduct.

The training car supplied will be kept in a roadworthy, safe and legal condition. It will be fully insured for the purpose of giving driving tuition.

Lesson payments should be made at the end of each lesson. Cheques are accepted as payment.

You will need to give a minimum of 48 hours notice should you need to cancel a lesson. Any lessons canceled within this period must be paid for in full before any further lessons will be booked.

If after arriving at your nominated pick up point for your lesson and there is no reply, I will wait for approximately 10 minutes. If after 10 minutes you have not made contact or I am unable to reach you, the lesson will be abandoned and you will be required to pay for the lesson(s) in question.

While every care will be taken to ensure Pupils receive training at the requested time, all bookings are made on the understanding that the I am not responsible for the postponement of training due to traffic conditions, adverse weather conditions, mechanical breakdown of equipment or any other cause outside of my control. In these circumstances you will not be expected to pay for your lesson.

Pupils are not to take lessons under the influence of alcohol or drugs. I'll stop the lesson if I suspect that the pupil is not fit to drive and the lesson will be paid in full.

If your test is canceled by the DSA, due to bad weather, staff shortage or illness, I will still charge for the amount of hours booked. You will be able reclaim your expenses directly from the DSA under these circumstances.

If, on the grounds of safety and professional opinion, your driving standard is below the standard required, I will decline the use of the car for the driving test. This may result in you forfeiting your driving test fee. This is necessary to protect other road users, yourself and the Car.

If there are any increases in lesson prices then Pupils will be given at least one week's notice in writing.

Nothing in these terms and conditions will reduce your statutory rights relating to faulty or mis-described goods or services provided. If you have any doubts about your statutory rights please contact your local Trading Standards Department or Citizens Advice Bureau.
